Quickstep sprinter and former World Champion Tom Boonen has been given an eleventh hour reprieve and will now line up in the 2009 Tour de France. The Court of Arbitration for Sport of the French Olympic Committee overturned the decision of the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the Tour organiser, to exclude the Quick Step sprinter because of his positive out-of-competition tests for cocaine.
Boonen will replace Aussie sprinter Allan Davis on the Quick Step squad, and will replace 'Alby' as my tip for the runner up in the green jersey competition. It will certainly make the competition a bit closer as Boonen is arguably one of the few sprinters that can match it with Mark Cavendish on his day.
